What Are Fluoride Treatments?

Fluoride is used for teeth to strengthen and protect them from decay. If decay occurs, your tooth will usually need either a dental filling or a root canal. Who Can Have Fluoride Treatments Done?

Most patients can benefit from these treatments. The procedure itself takes seconds in the office. You can request fluoride application at virtually any of your dental visits with us. It’s not uncommon for us to automatically apply it to your children’s teeth when they come in for their biannual checkup. We’re happy to discuss the benefits of fluoride with you so that you can determine if it’s right for you.

What Happens During the Fluoride Treatment?

It’s a fairly straightforward process. We’ll brush liquid fluoride over your teeth. The solution we use is similar to the fluoride in your toothpaste, but contains a more concentrated dose and offers more rapid benefits. Once its done, you’ll need to refrain from eating or drinking for about 30 minutes. This allows the liquid fluoride to fully soak into the teeth and provide the protection you need. Fluoride can be reapplied at each biannual checkup or more often as needed. It’s suitable for all patients and helps protect your teeth from decay and maintain your smile.

If you want fluoride treatment for your teeth, reach out to us by filling out our contact form or call or text us at (972) 646-0660. Our staff will be happy to set up an appointment at a convenient time for you.
